Regarding The Name "Spite"

I was looking up spite in a thesaurus and I saw that among other synonyms--malevolence, grudge, malignancy--one word listed as a synonym was "spleen."

Of course I had to look into this matter further, so I investigated and sure enough, spleen, in addition to being an organ involved with the maintenance of the blood, is also used to mean spite or anger.

I know you have had some legal difficulty over the name of your magazine in the past; might I suggest that perhaps you can avoid further complications by changing your magazine's name to "Spleen?"

Jill Waldbieser

When Jill says "legal difficulty," she is referring to a time some months ago when I, your beloved editor, lost my mind and tried to legally prevent another on-line mag from using the title Spite. I'm better now.

Though, when you realize the only letter I have this week is from the same person who wrote this week's article, you may understand why I'm so unstable. -ed.
