It's nice to see that the Pentagon has journalists so well-trained. Years of Cold War hush-hush discouragement prevented any follow-up to this statement, which should have sounded an alarm to those interested in the First Amendment. The Pentagon is saying that not only can it spy on citizens, it can then refuse to release the information it obtains. I don't know which is more disturbing; the kind of "defense" the Pentagon seems to think I need right now or the fact that journalists have abandoned this story for the much more "important" current Presidential slander. Clinton will be gone in 2 years. The person after him will be gone in 8 years at the most. Can you say the same for the Pentagon or the people running it? Who elects them?
